History of Bangalore
The town was founded in 1537 by a chieftain, Kempe Gowda, who was gifted the land by a Vijaynagar emperor and situated at a height of 1914 meters. Bangalore grew and prospered under the good influence of monarchs such as Tipu Sultan and the rulers of the Wodeyar dynasty.
